Wildberries turnover in 2020 increased by 96%
The largest online retailer in Russia, Wildberries, increased its turnover by 96% in 2020 compared to 2019, to 437.2 billion rubles.
The number of orders that buyers placed on the site doubled, to 323.8 million. The number of orders per day reached an average of 1.5 million in December 2020, compared with 750 thousand in December 2019, the company said. The number of users of the online platform has grown by 18 million, to 40 million people. As in 2019, customers preferred to receive orders at pick-up points over courier delivery: 93% of orders were taken by customers themselves.In 2020, the number of partners and own points of issue of orders in all countries of the company's presence increased 14 times, to 91 thousand.
Despite the expected serious decline in demand in the fashion segment, this segment accounted for about 50% of the annual turnover of Wildberries (217.7 billion rubles, + 45% YoY), the retailer noted. About 16% (71 billion rubles, + 70%) accounted for sales of the "goods for children" category. The share of the category "goods for home and summer cottages" reached 12% (54.3 billion rubles, + 219%), the category "electronics and household appliances" took 11% (46.6 billion rubles, + 198%) in the company's turnover, the category "goods for beauty" - 9% (37.7 billion rubles, + 156%).The highest rates of turnover grew in such categories as health products (+ 1659%), garden equipment (+ 1140%) and inventory (+ 709%), plumbing (+ 627%), food (+ 605%), linen for babies (+ 597%), pet products (+ 550%), baby food (+ 517%), party supplies (+ 426%) and stationery (+ 335%).
In 2020, the number of sellers of the online platform grew from 19 thousand to 91 thousand due to the simplified registration procedure on the platform. "2020 became a real test for Russian business, so we tried to improve the conditions of our cooperation: we simplified the registration of new entrepreneurs, which now takes no more than 5 minutes, automated document flow, reduced our trade commission (from 5%) and launched new sorting centers in the regions. so that entrepreneurs can optimize their logistics costs and speed up the delivery of goods, "said Vyacheslav Ivaschenko, Development Director of Wildberries, whose words are quoted in the message.
In the IV quarter, sales of Wildberries increased by 83% and reached their maximum values in history, amounting to 151.5 billion rubles, the company noted.
In October-December, the retailer significantly increased its assortment in such categories as food, electronics, and household appliances, pet and beauty products. For example, more than 1.6 thousand new brands have appeared in the “food” category, more than 700 in the “goods for animals” category.Wildberries is the largest online retailer in Russia. In addition to the Russian Federation, the company operates in nine other countries: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Israel, as well as Germany, whose market Wildberries announced earlier in January. The range of the site has more than 5 million SKUs.
