MicroBT has announced three new ASIC miners for bitcoin. WhatsMiner M30S +, M30S ++ and M31S + will compete with the latest generation of Bitmain miners.

MicroBT COO Chen Jianbing has announced new ASIC miners at an online event on Friday. The new WhatsMiner M30S +, M30S ++ and M31S + devices are available on pre-orders, which can be delivered within 30 days, or when purchased from stock.

At the event, Chen highlighted the rapid growth of MicroBT in 2019. The company sold 600,000 devices of the WhatsMiner M20 series, which affected the long-standing dominance of Bitmain in the market. The sales volume doubled in 2019 compared to 2018, and the total computing power sold by the company reached 35 million Th / s. At the end of December, this accounted for 35% of the Bitcoin total hash.

New models complement the existing MicroBT product line, which includes the previously released WhatsMiner M30S and M31S. According to the specifications, the new WhatsMiner M30S + has a hash rate of 100 Th / s and an energy efficiency of 34 W / Th / s, and the WhatsMiner M30S ++ has a hash rate of 112 Th / s with an energy efficiency of 31 W / Th / s.

The previously released WhatsMiner M30S has an energy efficiency of 38 W / Tx / s, while the WhatsMiner M31S + has 42 W / Tx / s, just like the previous model and the M31S. Chen noted that the new M31S + model has the ability to switch to undervoltage mode to achieve energy efficiency below 40 W / Tx / s.

In comparison, the Bitmain AntMiner S19 and S19 Pro devices have a hash rate of 95 Th / s and 110 Th / s with an energy efficiency of 34 W / Th / s and 30 W / Th / s, respectively.

Now manufacturers of mining equipment are in a difficult situation. In addition to the upcoming bitcoin halving, their situation was complicated by the fall of cryptocurrency markets in mid-March. The other day, Bitmain announced that it partially compensates for the difference in price to customers who ordered the new generation ASIC miners AntMiner S17 + and T17 + until the recent price reduction.

During the presentation of the new devices, the head of MicroBT sales, Vincent Zhang, announced that the price of the WhatsMiner M30S was reduced to $ 1 962, while on the release day it cost $ 2,500. The new models M30S + and M30S ++ announced today will cost $ 2,740 and $ 3,899 per unit, respectively.

Zhang said users who placed pre-orders at a higher price than the retail price at the time of delivery would receive compensation in coupons. They can be used to pay up to 10% of the cost of MicroBT goods.

Although MicroBT increased its market share in 2019, the company had problems with the delivery of devices within the promised time periods with a delay of up to several months. Zhang said the firm will now compensate customers with 0.3% of the cost of a pre-ordered device in coupons for each day of delayed delivery. In addition, MicroBT will extend the warranty policy for the M30 Series to one year after delivery. Typically, for such devices, the warranty does not exceed 6 months.
